Alpine Nexus: Hub of Independent Culture
General Objective:
Promote and support the growth and sustainability of independent cultural spaces in the Alpine regions, improving local governance, stimulating urban regeneration, promoting contemporary visual culture, and fostering community inclusion.
The term “Nexus” is chosen to signify the central role of the project in creating connections and fostering collaboration among various independent cultural spaces in the Alpine regions. The project aims to serve as a central hub, linking these spaces with each other and with key stakeholders, thereby enhancing their collective impact and sustainability.
The project “Alpine Nexus: Hub of Independent Culture” represents a unique opportunity to strengthen the role of independent cultural spaces as engines of innovation and development in the Alpine regions, promoting transnational cooperation and long-term sustainability. The project aims to create a more equitable and sustainable environment for cultural production and distribution, fostering collaboration between public institutions and independent spaces.
Specific Objectives:
– Strengthen the institutional capacities of local public authorities and stakeholders involved in the management and promotion of independent cultural spaces.
– Facilitate the creation of transnational networks among independent spaces to share resources, experiences, and best practices.
– Develop sustainable economic models for independent cultural spaces, based on exhibition initiatives and collaborative activities.
– Increase the visibility and recognition of independent cultural spaces as key actors in the cultural and social development of Alpine communities.
Program:
Work Package 1: Mapping and Analysis
Objective: Improve the understanding of the dynamics between independent cultural spaces, local communities, and policy makers.
Action 1.1: Mapping of Independent Cultural Spaces
Conduct a detailed mapping of existing independent cultural spaces in the Alpine regions, identifying their unique characteristics and needs.
Action 1.2: Analysis of Relationships between Spaces, Communities, and Policy Makers
Perform an in-depth analysis of the relationships between independent cultural spaces, local communities, and policymakers, identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
Action 1.3: Collection of Best Practices
Gather and document existing best practices in community engagement and collaboration with policymakers, to be used as models for other regions.
Action 1.4: Development of Policy Recommendations
Formulate policy recommendations to improve institutional support and sustainability of independent cultural spaces, based on the results of the mapping and analysis.
Work Package 2: Capacity Building and Sustainability
Objective: Strengthen the institutional and managerial capacities of those responsible for independent cultural spaces and develop sustainable models.
Action 2.1: Capacity Building Program
Organize a comprehensive training and capacity building program to improve skills in cultural project management, including aspects of administration, fundraising, marketing, and community engagement.
Action 2.2: Creation of Transnational Networks
Facilitate meetings and exchanges among independent spaces in the Alpine regions and other European realities to share resources, experiences, and best practices.
Action 2.3: Experimentation with Innovative Business Models
Implement innovative business models, such as artist residencies and community engagement programs, to ensure economic sustainability.
Action 2.4: Promotion and Visibility Campaigns
Launch communication campaigns to increase the visibility of independent spaces, collaborating with local and national media to disseminate success stories and best practices.

– Improved institutional and managerial capacities of local public authorities and stakeholders.
