ALP -LOCAL
We are looking for potential partners from Slovenia, France, Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein and Switzerland interested in joining the project proposal ALP-LOCAL, which we are preparing under Priority 2 / Specific Objective 2.2 of the Alpine Space Programme – 3rd call.
The project aims to promote proximity-based territorial models for the Alpine region, inspired by the concept of the 15-minute city and the proximity economy. The goal is to foster more sustainable, circular, and inclusive local economies, improve access to essential services, support active mobility, and reduce carbon emissions linked to long-distance commuting and consumption patterns. The project addresses key challenges faced by Alpine territories: growing territorial imbalances, fragmented services, increasing dependence on car travel, and the underutilisation of local resources and circular value chains.
ALP-LOCAL will implement 6 to 8 pilot actions across different Alpine territories — urban centres, intermediate towns, rural areas — where partners will co-create and test new forms of proximity hubs: multifunctional places combining circular services (repair, reuse), local food and short supply chains, mobility services, public or community spaces, and digital tools to improve service accessibility.
The partnership will also develop an Alpine Proximity Transition Framework, participatory methodologies, and policy recommendations to scale up successful approaches across the Alpine Space. The project contributes to the ambitions of the European Green Deal, Territorial Agenda 2030, New European Bauhaus, and EUSALP.
We are currently seeking:
– Municipalities or regional authorities willing to host or support a pilot action;
– Research organisations and universities (circular economy, urban studies, mobility, sustainable planning);
– Innovation hubs, startup incubators, or clusters active in circular economy and local services;
– NGOs and social enterprises working on community services, youth engagement, and sustainable local development.
