About

The Alpine Stream Research Center (ALPSTREAM) is a research facility of the University of Turin, born from the collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Turin and the Monviso Natural Park/MAB Unesco Monviso. We deal with water biodiversity in Alpine environments, sustainable management of river resources, impacts of anthropogenic activities and climate change on Alpine rivers, and the relationship between Man and Rivers in the Alps. We have a field station near the headwaters of the Po River, equipped with classrooms for teaching, a laboratory, guest house and a system of mesocosms (artificial rivers) where experiments in eco-hydraulics can be carried out. We have worked in the past within the framework of INTERREG Italy-France and are currently project leader of a LIFE project (LIFE MINNOW). We are looking for partners in the Alpine area to build a project aimed at improving the knowledge of the biodiversity of alpine rivers, with a focus on finding management solutions to mitigate anthropogenic and climate change impacts and to involve the local population and tourists.
