About | Certottica is an EU notified body (identification number 0530) and authorised by the Italian Economic Development, Labour and Social Policy ministries to issue CE conformity certificates for eye and partial and total face personal protective equipment. It is also a testing laboratory for certain specific categories of class 1 personal protective equipment, such as sunglasses, ski goggles and swimming goggles, and class 1 medical devices, such as reading glasses, premounted glasses and ophthalmic lenses. It is affiliated with the Ministry of Economic Development’s Direzione Generale per l’Armonizzazione del Mercato e la Tutela dei Consumatori, the Customs Agency and ANFAO to oversee the optical sector, safeguard virtuous firms and guarantee consumer health and safety. Special attention is paid to environmental sustainability certifications as well as to incentivising firms to research, develop and use innovative materials and processes capable of responding to new market needs and developments. Today Certottica’s work hinges on four areas of expertise: testing and certification, training, innovation and standards. Certottica is looking for partners to implement projects on: the use of smart glasses for emergency interventions in mountainous areas and for the caring for the elderly, reuse and recycling of indutrial scraps, valorisation of agricultural waste for producing bioplastics, valorisation of eyewear cultural heritage of industrial production, testing of portective and sports equipments, helping private and public bodies in the development of guidelines/standards for improving the security in mountain areas (of equipments, of people, etc.). |
