About

MOST is the National Center for Sustainable Mobility born in 2022 as part of the M4C2 Mission of the Italian NRRP and, specifically, of Investment 1.4 Strengthening research structures and creation of “national champions” of R&D on some Key enabling technologies.

The MOST Foundation, based in Milan, is composed of 24 Universities and as many large companies in the sector as well as the CNR and its field of investigation is mobility with the primary objective of incentivizing and supporting the development of modern, sustainable, inclusive, IMMEDIATELY USABLE AND HIGHLY SCALABLE SOLUTIONS FOR THE ENTIRE SOCIAL CONTEXT.

Its activity is organized into 14 Spokes, in which the Partners are aggregated based on specializations, each led by a University responding to the Management HUB of Milan:
1 – AIR MOBILITY
2 – SUSTAINABLE ROAD VEHICLES
3 – MARITIME TRANSPORT
4 – RAIL TRANSPORT
5 – LIGHT VEHICLES AND ACTIVE MOBILITY
6 – CONNECTED AND AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES (CAV)
7 – COOPERATIVE CONNECTED AND AUTOMATED MOBILITY (CCAM) AND INTELLIGENT INFRASTRUCTURES
8 – MAAS (Mobility as a Service) AND INNOVATIVE SERVICES
9 – URBAN MOBILITY
10 – FREIGHT TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS
11 – INNOVATIVE MATERIALS AND LIGHTWEIGHTING
12 – INNOVATIVE PROPULSION SYSTEMS
13 – ELECTRIC TRACTION SYSTEMS AND BATTERIES
14 – HYDROGEN AND NEW FUELS

MOST is a singularity in all respects: there are in total five Italian National Centers and the others deal, respectively, with high-performance computing, aggrotech, gene therapy and biodiversity.

MOST looks at this call to broaden its activities with a view to interoperability and large-scale diffusion of some of its projects regarding:
– AUTONOMOUS DRIVING SOLUTIONS. MASA – led by the Partner University of Modena and Reggio Emilia in collaboration with the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport – is the first open-air laboratory in Italy for the testing and certification of autonomous driving and connected driving technologies that interact with other vehicles, with infrastructures and with elements of urban space
– SOCIOLOGICAL ISSUES for the study of which it has already activated observatories regarding student mobility and the impacts of tourism
– National and European REGULATORY ANALYSIS

MOST can share the experience gained through its Research Observatories – strategic platforms that operate in synergy by pooling the skills and knowledge of the Partners involved – aimed at monitoring, improving and innovating specific areas of the world of transport including RUBBER, GOODS and ENABLING TECHNOLOGIES for the CIVIL AVIATION sector.

The transnational impacts of these projects can be broad, touching a multitude of sectors from tourism to social services in a general context of improving the quality of life.
