About

Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (ZRC SAZU) stands as a premier research and educational centre in Slovenia, particularly excelling in the humanities, social sciences and select areas of natural sciences. Established in 1981 (with some units tracing their origins back more than seven decades), the research centre comprises 18 institutes housing over 260 researchers, thus fostering a vibrant multidisciplinary research network. At ZRC SAZU, researchers predominantly embark on fundamental research across a spectrum of disciplines, spanning from linguistics to philosophy, and from archaeology to biology. Their discoveries hold profound significance in enriching comprehension of cultural, social, and natural phenomena, both locally in Slovenia and globally. Beyond disseminating their findings through scientific publications and academic conferences, research teams actively engage in data collection, documentation, and presentation to diverse audiences, extending beyond academic circles.
ZRC SAZU boasts extensive experience in participating in and managing projects under centralised European programmes: Framework Programmes (including Era-Net), ERASMUS+, Creative Europe, Europe for Citizens along with Programmes of other DGs (AMIF, EASI, LIFE+) as well as through decentralised international mechanisms: INTERREG (cross-border, transnational and interregional), other mechanisms (e.g. Norwegian and EEA mechanisms and SCOPES) and decentralised programmes under cohesion policy (ESF – European Social Fund and CF – Cohesion Fund). A vital component of the SAZU Research Centre is its research office, comprising multiple departments dedicated to assisting researchers in effectively managing, coordinating, and monitoring project activities, financial resources utilization, as well as content and financial reporting.
