About

The FHV – Vorarlberg University of Applied Sciences is a prominent research-intensive institution located in the western part of Austria. FHV is entirely owned by the Government of the Federal State of Vorarlberg, serving as a critical scientific anchor and knowledge hub for stakeholders out of business, industry, government, politics and society in Vorarlberg, the Alpine-Rhine – Lake of Constance international region, and beyond.
Comprising six internal research centers and Schloss Hofen, an external scientific organization, FHV engages in scientific research and education. Currently, FHV offers 19 programs at the Bachelor, Master, and MBA levels for both full-time and part-time students, including collaborative PhD courses with partner universities.
FHV has garnered international recognition, achieving excellent rankings in the U-Multirank, particularly in categories such as Teaching and Learning, International Orientation, and Regional Commitment. Notably, the Department of Economics and the entire University of Applied Sciences are ranked in the top groups A and B in these categories.
The facilities and technical infrastructure at FHV align with the state of the art, experiencing continuous reinvestments to keep pace with technical and digital innovation. This commitment positions FHV as an efficient and practice-oriented organization with a strong international focus.
FHV actively engages in various activities, including organizing tailored conferences, seminars, workshops, and meetings for industry/business, academia/universities, state/government, and public/civil society. From an industry/business perspective, FHV maintains close ties with local industries and businesses in Vorarlberg and neighboring regions, establishing itself as a center for industrial and societal innovation. On an academic/university level, FHV nurtures global networks, facilitating student and staff exchanges internationally. FHV disseminates research results to political and administrative departments, maintaining close connections with the Government of the Federal State of Vorarlberg. Additionally, FHV collaborates with municipalities, key innovation players, and various ministries on the national level, contributing to areas such as climate action, environment, energy, mobility, innovation, technology, digital and economic affairs, education, science, and research. From a public/civil society perspective, FHV actively involves the community in participative innovation and knowledge dissemination through initiatives like open innovation labs, seminars, workshops, lectures, and other public engagement activities.
