About | PEFC Italy is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organisation, founded in 2001 which promotes sustainably managed forests through independent third party certification. PEFC forest certification provides an assurance mechanism to purchasers of wood and paper products that they are promoting the sustainable management of forests. In Italy 821.000 forest hectares are PEFC certified in 10 Italian Regions with 920 certified Companies. PEFC Italy is part of the world’s largest forest certification umbrella organisation with 56 independent national schemes in membership from all over the world, delivering hundreds of millions of tonnes of wood to the market place from over 296 million hectares of certified forests. All European Countries have a PEFC national Governing Body and all can collaborate with PEFC Italy to achieve the goals of the project. |
